gramps and the great pumpkin

Gramps stopped by last night with two HUGE pumpkins that he picked up in Dodge City, KS while on a business trip. One weighed 86 lbs, and the other has to be close to 150 lbs! So fun!!
 unloading the pumpkins...
thanks, Gramps! they look great on the front porch!

hillsong {LIVE}

Jerry and I got to go on a fun date night this past Sunday evening. We went out to dinner with friends and to see Hillsong (an amazing rockin' worship band). They are known for songs such as "Shout to the Lord", "Mighty to Save", "Hosanna", "The Stand" and many others.

It was really loud... or I'm getting old... or both! :) But it also made me wonder if this was just a slice of what Heaven might be like?!?

Thousands of people worshipping our Savior together. Truly amazing!

Here is just a small part of "Mighty to Save" from Sunday night:

backyard campout

Jerry and the boys decided it would be fun to camp out in our backyard last night. When I got home from checking out the new Marshall's store in Wichita (woo-hoo!!), this is what I found...
the tent was set up, the lawn chairs were out, and Jerry had built a campfire in our YARD!
oh yeah, the dogs were there, too :)
 brothers :)
next to the scary-big fire!!
why do you think Carter is holding his ears??
 roasting marshmallows and making s'mores
 Grayson with his marshmallow
Getting ready for bed... in the tent!
Carter decided he didn't want to sleep outside, so he and I "camped out" in our king-size bed.
 Night-night!!

soccer action shots

Grayson's fall soccer season is in full swing. This year his team started practicing two nights a week, and we can see a difference in their skills already! Today was their third game, and it was overcast, cool, and lightly misting. Great soccer weather! :) Here are some action shots of our soccer player...
practicing before the game with Coach Casey looking on

kansas sunflowers

Lately we've noticed huge fields of gorgeous Kansas sunflowers. Everywhere! As we drove home from church and eating lunch, we stopped and took a few pics of the boys with our lovely state flower. Enjoy :)
And in other monumental family news, I finally got an iPhone. Jerry actually said he'd thought I'd leave him if he didn't let me get one.
All I can say is that a hunting dog puppy definitely equals at least an iPhone.
And, I snapped these pics with my handy phone.
This pic says it all...
the type-A, very competitive, "wants everyone to do everything right" older brother

the usually very happy, life is good, and quite loud little brother.

rock chalk football

We have loved having Uncle Brentley and Claire-Bear (what G & C affectionately call Claire) home for Labor Day weekend. We spent most of Saturday up in the hallowed town of Lawrence, KS, which was excitedly bustling with Jayhawk fans. We arrived early in the afternoon, and were surprised at how many other people decided to do the same!
we met up with Centennial Jay in the Union

got some tattoos...

Christmas card pic?? :)
Carter went in for another hug with C-Jay
the boys waited in line to get Jayhawk balloons

Dad and Jerry at the game

Uncle Brentley took the boys shopping, and Carter picked out a mini-helmet, which he put on his bear
so excited to see Baby Jay!!
Love him!!
