Bunny cookie sandwiches

While Carter napped this afternoon, Chef Grayson and I decided to do some cooking. We had bought the Pillsbury box of pre-cut bunny sugar cookies, and followed an idea that was on the back of the box. Here is Grayson -- with his new haircut -- putting each cookie on the cookie sheet.
The cookies after we baked them... all ready to be frosted!
We spread pink vanilla frosting in between the cookies, and then used fun sprinkles to add some additional decor!!
Grayson loves to help with cooking... a fun and yummy thing to do together!

Tanganyika Wildlife Park

During Spring Break, we decided to enjoy one of the two days it didn't rain all week, by taking a trip to the Tanganyika Wildlife Park. It's like a small zoo, and everything is up close and personal. It was a little bit chilly, but we were thankful that the sun was shining!!
Our first stop was to see the Colobus Monkeys. They were so cute and playful! Grayson and Carter loved watching them romp and play.
There was a baby! The babies are born white, and then turn black. The mama monkey was pretty protective of her little one.
Mama monkey with baby is on the far right
Uncle Dave... we have a white tiger now! So cool!!!
Carter loved the goats
Grayson loved petting the bunnies

Carter wasn't so sure about this morbidly obese rabbit
You could go in the kangaroo exhibit, and were allowed to pet the kangaroos IF they came up to you. It was amazing to watch them hop around!
This bird was at the Lorikeet Landing -- I believe it's called a Lorie. They had such bright vibrant coloring!
Grayson stood in line to pet a lemur
With the lemur...
We attempted to feed the giraffes (carrots and lettuce), but they were content to just watch from a distance. What a fun day!

Where are they?

I have looked and looked and looked some more... where are the crocs for kids? I don't mean the real ones that cost $30. I want the knock-offs... I have previously found them at Payless, Wal-Mart, and Target. I've checked all three, and none of those stores have them. I even asked the lady at Payless, and she wasn't sure they would even get any this year. What??!? I think Grayson has worn them every year since he could walk. And they're so easily washable and they just slip on -- the perfect kids' shoe for summer. So if you've seen any, drop me a line!!

Mom, there's a tiger in my bed!

Grayson and Shere Khan have quite the relationship. Usually, Shere Khan "sleeps" above Grayson's closet, in a little cut-out. As Grayson says, "that way he can protect me at night." Well, the other day, we got good ol' Shere down to play with him (and to show Carter), and this is what I found when I went to turn Grayson's lamp off after he'd fallen asleep. They might be spooning...
These two have been good buddies for quite awhile now =)

Just your typical dinner at our house

(Sorry... you'll have to pause the music on the blog to hear Carter's laughing...)

Carter is enjoying his baked spaghetti, and no, his whole face isn't covered in tomato sauce. There's actually a large scab (gross, I know) underneath his nose, where he face-planted down the driveway with one of his push toys. Hey, he's pretty much walking now.

So here is Grayson getting Carter to laugh at dinner, Carter clapping, and I think that Grayson shows the world one of his green beans. At least he's eating! We went for his 5 year old check-up, and he (Grayson) weighs 40 lbs and is 42 inches tall. 50th percentile for both height and weight... my brothers think G looks like he's from Darfur because he's so stinkin' skinny.

Enjoy!!

Sesame Street Live

Last Friday night, Grayson, Mom, and I headed to the new Intrust Bank Arena for Sesame Street Live. We had great seats and loved seeing Elmo and friends!

The cotton candy was a hit, too =)

More birthday fun...

Opening presents from Nana and Gramps... I can't believe there are FIVE candles on his cake... Wow!!
Nana made darling party favors, actually an idea from Aunt Laura. They are little balloons, made from wooden skewers, jelly beans, and licorice.
This has been a tradition since Grayson was two... he LOVES to eat at Red Robin for his birthday lunch. He always asks me to ask the waiter if they will sing to him. =)
Carter enjoyed his share of the birthday sundae
Happy 5th birthday, Grayson. We love you lots!!

Lunch with the Unruhs

On our drive up to Kansas City, we stopped for a fun pizza lunch at Jerry's second cousin Anna's house. Anna is married to Austin, and they have two girls, Holly and Laney. Laney and Carter are just 4 days apart... the last pic we took together was at James and Alicia's wedding in July, and the babies were just 5 months old. Now they're ONE!

Then we tried to get one with all the kiddos together... easier said than done! =)

So does this make our kids third cousins??
I have no clue... I have no cousins of my own. Crazy, I know.
It was great to see you, A & A! Thanks for having us over for lunch! Let's get together again soon.

Happy 5th Birthday, Grayson!

We enjoyed a fun weekend in Kansas City to celebrate Grayson's birthday. We surprised him in the car on the way out of town, and told him that we were headed to the Great Wolf Lodge. He was so excited!! We had a "birthday dinner" at T-Rex Cafe at the Legends on Saturday night, and Grayson loved all the dinosaurs all around!

This guy was right behind our table =)

Love the Triceratops...

Saturday night after dinner, we made it back to the Lodge in time for storytime and to meet Wiley the Wolf.

Carter loved, loved, loved the water!

Playing together

Gotta have matching swimsuits... at least for MY sake.

Carter had a ball going down the waterslides with Grayson!

Here's a video of the two brothers going down the slide together!!

Home Makeover: "Hilltop Road Edition"

This past weekend, my mom and I headed to Ft. Worth to do some shopping, eating, and most importantly, help my brother, Brett, decorate his new house! Our first dinner out was at a fun place called "Sushi Axiom." We ordered several rolls, yummy salads, and Brett picked out the wine. =)

I always think the rolls are so amazing...

We made several trips to SuperTarget, Wal-Mart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Michaels, and Garden Ridge to get all kinds of things for Brett. Our cart was usually soooo full, that it became comical.

Brett's living room after our shopping!! Love the shag rug, coordinating pillows, tray with goodies on the coffee table, side tables with lamps... yes, most all of it was NEW this weekend!!

Looking in from the front door... we suggested getting the big clock, fun vase with spiral twigs, rug for under the dining room table, floral arrangement for the table... love it all!

And, a little bit of "pretty" art for above the stove... didn't get around to hanging it, but I'm sure Brett will...

Mom and Brentley

Who would ever guess that he is my BABY brother?? I am eight years older, but he is waaaay taller and super-skinny. The kid is ripped. All the girls in Ft. Worth better watch out! =)
