Last year, the river was running so high and so fast, that kids were not even allowed to tube down the Yampa. We started seeing adults tubing the last two days or so of our trip there. This year was a different story. There was almost not enough water to tube, but the river was open. We were excited to give it a try!
this is looking down at the Yampa from a bridge -- it literally runs through downtown Steamboat...
the ski mountain is directly behind it, shops and restaurants are to the left, and the rodeo and alpine slide are to the right
one night after dinner we headed down to the Yampa... the boys loved throwing rocks in and it was just gorgeous outside
then we decided to tube the Yampa!!
these pics are taken by Gramps as he looked down at us from one of the bridges
here comes Grayson
our group of tubers :)
what a small world... Mom ran into one of our good family friends that lived in Wichita back in the '80s... in the Yampa!! oh my!! so fun to see our friend, Gail! :)
(and love the surprised expression on Mom's face!)
peace out from the Yampa River!
