It has become a tradition to go to the East Heights pumpkin patch every year with the boys all dressed up. I have a fun little scrapbook that has a picture of the boys from each year, with their costumes. It's so fun to look back at past Octobers... and see how everyone has changed! This year Grayson is a chimpanzee and Carter is a peacock. The peacock was Grayson's costume from 4 years ago... my all-time favorite! :)

jerry's marathon
Jerry ran the Prairie Fire Marathon this morning in a great time of 3 hours and 46 minutes. We were so proud of him! The boys and I saw him SIX different times throughout the race, where it was fun to cheer him on.
Here he comes... mile 3... he's in the back in the red
(it rained the entire morning...yes, that's unconditional love!)
Grayson giving Jerry some Gatorade... around mile 9
Our friend, Chad, is right next to Jerry, also in red
about mile 12... still looking good!
now they're downtown... about mile 15... Jerry and Chad are still together here
still in the heart of downtown Wichita... mile 17.5
the boys cheering Jerry on... just in front of the Art Museum
Grayson ran with Jerry (as he walked a bit)... mile 22
Crossing the FINISH!
Chad and Jerry -- Congratulations, guys, on a job well done!!
saturday night concert {sugarland}
Aunt Laura and I saw Sugarland perform last night at the Intrust Bank Arena. They were amazing. Seriously awesome. Rockin'. They sang all of their hits, and were dancing and spinning around the whole time while they sang. It was incredible!
We were waaaaay up in the rafters, but still had a ball!
Who doesn't love Jennifer and Kristian? :)
Loved when they sang "Stay" -- just the two of them... acoustic version.
They sang their "campfire" version of Baby Girl -- my all-time favorite Sugarland song.
What a fun evening...

homecoming at friends
Last Saturday evening we went to Friends University's Homecoming festivities. Friends really does a great job of having several fun activities for alumni and their families. We traditionally go to to the parade, then the cookout, and end the night with some games. You can also go to their football game, but my basketball playing hubby could care less about Friends football.
The boys with the Friends Falcon... Carter is definitely checking him out!
getting their faces painted
Carter got a football and Grayson got a soccer ball
sweet friends :)
They loved going down the bouncy slide. I think they went at least 20 times that night...

two ingredients, really??
Just recently, I joined the Pinterest crowd. I'm not really sure I'm even doing it right, but I love browsing all the fun ideas.
Recently, there have been pins regarding this amazing pumpkin cake that only requires 2 ingredients.
Really? That sounds waaay too easy, but easy is waaay appealing. :)
So we tried it. And we love it!!
So here are the two magical ingredients: a box of yellow cake mix and a can of 100% pumpkin. I added a sprinkling of nutmeg and cinnamon to jazz it up a bit. (You could also add in chocolate chips, raisins, etc)
Utilizing a 2 year old and a hand mixer, mix the ingredients for about 2 minutes, until they're completely combined.
Such a pretty orange batter.. and it tastes good, too. ;)
Bake in a 11x7 pan at 350 degrees for about 28 minutes. Then, you can frost the cake if you want. We used a cream cheese frosting. Oh my.
This just says "Happy Fall" -- and yum!!!

friday night carnival
On Friday night, we (along with Aunt Laura) took the boys to the Greater Andover Days carnival. It was a beautiful night... temps in the 70s with no wind... and we all had a great time!
At the end of a busy, but fun day... they wanted to sleep together. So, a bird's eye view of a brothers' slumber party. :)
