It's Bumbo time!

My sweet friend, Kathy, brought me a Bumbo that she found on Craig's List in Kansas City. Carter has enjoyed it! It took him a little time to get used to it, and he still has to work pretty hard to keep his (large) head upright. Here's our little munch:Brothers... still in their PJs... on a lazy summer morning =)
An action shot -- Grayson helping Carter reach for his keys
Wait... that's a great OT activity, too. Ha ha.

We are all excited to have Aunt Laura here from California for a few days, and to have Uncle Dave, Aunt Kristen, and Uncle Brentley arriving on Thursday. Yea!!

Kansas Harvest

On Saturday, Jerry took Grayson and Carter up to his parents' house outside of Galva, KS to see how harvest was going. Grayson LOVES all kinds of construction vehicles, tractors, trucks, etc so this was right up his alley! He got to ride in the combine and tractor with Grandpa, and get in the semi-truck with Uncle James who was hauling the wheat to Salina. Here's Grayson "driving" the combine.Harvest in full-swing on a HOT Kansas day!

The BIG 4 months!

Yesterday we took Carter for his four month check-up and shots. He did really well, and only cried a little during the shots. Here are his four month statistics:
He weighs 16 pounds, 3 ounces -- 75th percentile
He's 25 1/2 inches long -- 75th percentile
and, drum roll, please...
His lovely head is 17 1/2 inches around -- 95th percentile (YIKES!)
Dr. Kim said he could start eating food now, so we fed him rice cereal last night and he loved it! This morning at the grocery store we picked up some squash and he's already finished off half a jar. The kid doesn't miss a meal. =) Here he is with the squash...
Our other excitement is that yesterday Carter got a tooth on the bottom! He's been drooling like crazy and knawing on all kinds of toys, and sure enough, he's got his first tooth! I didn't think kids got teeth this early -- but what do I know? =)
He also slept from 10p to 8a last night -- yippee!! If we could just get him to like riding in his carseat, we'd be all good.

Carter's Baptism and Father's Day...

Our sweet Carter Elliott was baptized today at church. It was a special day and a fun rememberance of Grayson's baptism which happened 4 years ago on Father's Day. Dr. Marsh baptized Carter, and Dr. Richard Spann was the Elder present at his baptism. Carter just smiled at Dr. Marsh throughout the service, and did just great! He was so sweet...
A view of the baptism with a pretty shot of the stained glass window
Here we are after the service... Carter's sleeping peacefully =)
And, to the two sweetest Dads that I know... I love you very much and I'm so thankful that God has blessed me with you in my life! (Dad, Jerry, and Carter are sitting outside on Mom and Dad's deck at their new house...)
Happy Father's Day!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame...

Here is Grayson's first hit of the night... then running to first base where he's SAFE!! Yea!

And then running from 2nd to 3rd, then all the way home!!

Sorry to bore some of you with these videos, but this is a fun, easy way to show Grayson's "far-away" uncles and aunts how much fun he's had playing t-ball!

Carter is talking!

We were able to catch a little bit of Carter's chattering on video! He loves to hear himself talk... and we do, too!!

I must be getting old...

Jerry and I had a very enjoyable evening last night. His parents came down to Wichita to watch the boys while we had a date night. We had a fun dinner with some of our good friends, and it was so nice to enjoy adult conversation and actually linger over a meal... instead of rushing to get everyone fed before a meltdown happens. =) After our yummy dinner, we headed out to do a few errands -- just the two of us!

This is where I start to feel kind of old. What kind of errands did we do? Well, we went dishwasher and microwave shopping, got our wedding rings cleaned at Zales, and I went in search of a new Tempur-Pedic pillow. Yeah -- how old are we? From this description, you would guess OLD!! But, no, we're just in our thirties. Ha ha. We actually even enjoyed our errands, and found appliance bargains. Yippee!

So, down to the pillow business. My neck is killing me. I am most definitely a stomach sleeper, which I know is not good. I can sleep on my side, though I really don't like it. I will not and cannot fall asleep on my back. So, I've got a stiff and crunchy neck, like you wouldn't believe. (For my medical readers out there, I feel like my C7 and T1 verterbrae are just grinding on top of each other.) My good friend, Nanci, swears by her Tempur-Pedic pillow, so last night, while we were at the mall, I checked them out. They sell the pillows at Brookstone and they're $89!! Everyone says they're worth it -- I haven't bought one just yet. I think I'm ready, but I'm also curious... Have any of you ever tried one? Do you currently sleep on a "special" pillow? And, the million-dollar question -- Have you seen these pillows anywhere else cheaper??

Here's to sounding old... but also longing for a good, comfy night's sleep! =)
