Tired... (literally) of not sleeping

Well, here I go again. I'm tired. We're tired. Carter just passed the 10 week mark, and he's still up 1-2 times per night. Here's our routine: Eat at 7pm, wake him up to eat at 10pm. Then, we wait until we hear from him for his next feeding. He's gone as long as 3:30am (twice), but more often he's awake about 1:45am and then again at 5:30am. I'm at a loss for what to do. This is getting really, really old.

I'm seriously considering putting him to sleep on his stomach. He can clear his head up off the floor when laying on his tummy. He's not yet rolling over, though. My other thought has been to NOT wake him up at 10pm for a feeding and see how long he goes. But, my fear is that he'll just wake up at 11 or midnight, and then be up every three hours after that. Ugh.

On a positive note, he's been taking good afternoon naps in his crib. He's been sleeping for about 2 hours in the afternoon, and it's allowed me to feel somewhat productive! Yea!!

Any sleep-extending ideas out there??

Happy Birthday, Jerry!

Today is Jerry's 32nd birthday! Happy birthday to my sweet husband! We celebrated last night (because he has a late meeting at work tonight) by going out to eat at one of our favorite Japanese hibachi grills. Yum!!
Side note: You know you're comfortable with Kansas weather when the tornado sirens go off just as you enter a restaurant... and it doesn't really faze you. You still order, don't think too much of it, and have a great dinner. Ha! (And, it rained 7 inches here last night, too...)
Grayson checks in on Carter during dinner
Mom took the pics... great cooking action shot of the "volcano"!!

The cook launched some shrimp in the air -- Jerry caught them like a champ!

Grayson does great with chopsticks, and he loves to use them. He even has his own set at our house!
Happy Birthday to a wonderful husband and dad! We love you lots!

Preschool Program

Last night was the Preschool Program at Central Christian. Grayson's class performed several songs, a poem, and recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the Bible Pledge. They did a wonderful job! Here's Grayson -- right in the middle in the brown and white striped shirt.Grayson with his good buddy, Trevor
The fam after the program

Grayson with his wonderful teachers, Mrs. Winger and Mrs. Tinius Doing the actions with one of the songs...
After his program, and of course, enjoying the cookies and punch, we headed home. Grayson put on his PJs and was sooo excited to watch his performance on DVD. As we were watching it at home, Grayson turned to me and said, "Mom, I think everyone really enjoyed our program!"
As as matter of fact, Grayson, we did. =)

Two month shots and stats

Carter got his 2 month old shots today. It's always so sad, but he did really well. See his two little Dora bandaids on his thighs? You'd never know he'd had his shots by the smile on his face this afternoon. =)A few more smiles...
And, the look that says, "Come on, Mom. Another picture?"

Some fun 2 month old stats:
He weighs 12 lbs, 8 oz, and is 23" long...
He was 8 lbs, 2 oz and 20" long at birth!
He is sleeping for about a 5 hour stretch at night, going from 10p-3a, and then up again at 6am.
He still eats every 2 1/2 to 3 hours during the day.
He started really smiling at age 7 weeks.
He loves to sleep on his side, all swaddled up.
He hates being in his carseat, and usually screams until we get him out of the car!
Grayson still calls him "The Little Munch" -- it just might stick!

And, he LOVES his bath!

It was lots of fun hanging out with everyone!Luke, Brett, Grayson, David, me, and Kristen on our front porchKristen got Carter to smile several times over the weekend!
Fun times with Uncle "Shave"Wrestling around with Uncle Brentley

Grayson and Kristen made a darling Easter Bunny cake together

Don't tell Grayson, but Jerry rearranged his whiskers... Grayson's whiskers job looked more like a tangled mess. =)

The fam on Easter Sunday... minus poor Jerry who was home sick. Poor guy. =(

The boys: Grayson, David, Brett, Carter, and Luke

Tummy time

Not much new to report around here... I just tried to get a few pics yesterday morning as Grayson and I helped Carter with his "tummy time." It's hard to tell from the pictures, but his eyes are still really blue. We're hoping they'll stay that way... just like Jerry's and my dad's.Working soooo hard to get that big ol' head off the ground!
Grayson talks to him NON-STOP... I'm serious. =)

The boys... Grayson tells us that Carter is his best friend. Awww.

I took this shot with the flash off... turned out cute!

We're looking forward to our Pittsburgh and Fort Worth family members coming for Easter AND to meet Carter for the first time. Yea!!

Thankful...

I am feeling thankful today! I am so excited to report that Carter has slept from 10pm-2:30am the past three nights. (I hoping I'm not jinxing myself by sharing the good news!!) Four hours of somewhat uninterrupted sleep is wonderful. I repeat, it's WONDERFUL. =) I am also so thankful for my sweet mom, who has graciously taken the boys several afternoons this week so that I could catch up on some sleep and take a nap. Thanks, Mom!!! I really think Carter is close to smiling... he definitely does in his sleep, or when he's gassy. But, that's just being a typical male. Ha ha.
Grayson continues to amaze us with how much he loves Carter. He tells us multiple times a day that he "just loves, loves, loves the Little Munch."

Grayson's preschool class got to dress up "funny" for April Fool's Day, and Grayson came out of school wearing these glasses. Jerry thought it would be fun to let Carter sport them in his carseat. Boys, boys... I'm officially surrounded now!!

Happy Friday!
