So we are officially boring. We have nothing planned for this weekend, but that doesn't sound too awful... I'm thankful Jerry doesn't have to work, and that his new job is going well. He's enjoying it for the most part, but still feels overwhelmed at times. Oh well -- I think that's pretty normal for a new position.
I added a "ticker" to the blog... something I've never done before, but some of my other blogging friends have them. I (finally) figured out how to get it up and running. =)
We're still thanking God daily for this new little life as well as pleading for his/her safety and health as we finish out the 1st trimester. It's hard to believe that I'll be 10 weeks on Sunday. Wow! My next OB appointment is this coming Wednesday, and my doctor said that if everything looks normal, I can go back to just monthly appointments (instead of every 2 weeks). I'll keep you updated, and will hopefully have one more set of ultrasound pictures in a few days!
As I was tucking Grayson into bed just a few minutes ago, I said, "Good night, Grayson. I love you." And he replied: "Sweet dreams to Mommy and Daddy. Oh, and Mommy, take care of Daddy in the dark. 'Kay??" Ha-ha. Yes, Daddy definitely wishes for that... =)
Hope you all have a great, restful, and relaxing weekend!

Summer Splash '08
Today Jerry, Grayson, and I all headed out to El Dorado Lake to help with "Summer Splash." Summer Splash is sponsored by Via-Christi Our Lady of Lourdes (the rehab hospital that Jerry worked at for 6 years), and the purpose is to help people with spinal cord injuries waterski and jetski. It's an amazing event. It's so cool watching people who are either a quadriplegic or paraplegic have so much fun on the water. Jerry has helped for several summers now, but this was the first time for Grayson and me. (Honestly, I'm not much of a lake person.) But, we had a great time and were blessed with beautiful weather.
Here are Stacy (OT), Tim, Scott, Jerry (PT), and Mike (Marine World sponsor)
Jerry got to ride along with Scott, who had a spinal cord injury about 5 years ago. Scott was one of Jerry's most favorite patients ever. =)
Nothing like two rambunctious guys on a jetski!
When there was a lull in the morning, Jerry took Grayson out for a spin
Hard to see Grayson... but his head is right above the steering column =)

Answered prayers and exciting news...
We are thrilled to announce that many, many prayers have been answered. We have a little one on the way! This picture is the second sonogram that I have had in the past 4 weeks, and it amazes me that at 8 weeks and 3 days, a head, body, and 4 tiny extremities are visible. Wow. What an awesome God we serve!!
We have seen the heartbeat twice, and were encouraged by my OB's words at Tuesday's appointment: "At this point, you have less than a 5% chance of miscarriage." The thought makes me want to smile and cry, all at the same time.
We have learned so much over the past 15 months, and both Jerry and I would agree that we have seen firsthand the much-needed power of prayer. We have felt your prayers, we have needed your prayers, we have been blessed by your prayers, and we are so incredibly thankful for your prayers. We would ask that you continue to pray along with us, for the safety and health of this little one, and that he or she would stay inside me until February!! =)
To God be the glory, great things He hath done!!

Hooked
I am definitely hooked on two things this summer... The first one is the new show on ABC called "Hopkins". It's a real-life medical drama, and it follows around several of the doctors, nurses, and patients at the world-famous Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. It truly is a lot like "Grey's Anatomy" -- but a little more wholesome and has a little less sex. There are only 2 or 3 more episodes, so if you haven't watched it yet, give it a try! It's on Thursday nights at 9pm.
The other thing I am loving this summer is the Oriental Chicken and Shrimp Salad from Cheddars. Yum! It is sooo good! And, I have to think that it's not too bad for you... grilled shrimp and chicken on the salad with a light dressing and mandarin oranges. I just wish I could make something that yummy! =)
So, what are you hooked on this summer?

Rock River Rapids
Yesterday, Jerry, Grayson and I all headed to Rock River Rapids, a waterpark not too far from our house. (Jerry starts his new job tomorrow, so he's had these last two days off.) We all had a great time and were blessed by beautiful, hot weather... 97 degrees! Here's Grayson on one of the floating turtles.
Jerry and Grayson LOVED the waterguns!! Notice that Jerry's looking a little pink...
Grayson and I found a beaver swimming around...
Fun in the sun!
Grayson and I made several rounds on the Lazy River... there were lifeguards stationed every so often, and he would wave at all of them. (You can see him waving in this picture!)

Fourth of July Parade
When I was a little girl (Wow -- that makes me sound old!) our neighborhood always had a 4th of July parade. We would all decorate our bikes with flags, balloons, and crepe paper, and the local firemen would lead us all in a parade up and down the street. Well, my parents still live in that same neighborhood, and they still have the traditional 4th of July parade. Now that Grayson is old enough to ride his bike, and has the endurance to ride for awhile... well, we thought the parade would be a fun thing to do! Here he is -- all decked out in his red, white, and blue! (I must share my great bargain find from yesterday... his cute patriotic Polo shirt from Once Upon a Child was $3.17!! Yippee!!)
Posing with a fireman
Me, Grayson, Mom, Debbie, and Elyse waiting for the parade to start
The firetruck is still a little loud for 3 year old ears =)
Grayson and Elyse watching from a distance as the ladder went high up in the sky, and then the firemen sprayed everyone! Fun!
Happy Birthday, USA!!

Fireworks
Happy July! We know it's definitely July around here because of the multitude of fireworks stands that have appeared! We even have one set up at the entrance to our neighborhood. Nana and Grayson decided to go get some fireworks, as Grayson has been begging to go there ever since the tents went up. =)
Checking out the possibilities...
Getting a basketful...
All grown up with his purchases in front of the tent! Watch out world!!
One of our childhood favorites -- POPPERS! (We used to put these behind my mom's suburban's tires, and then she would back out, and it was so LOUD!!)
Another favorite -- SMOKE BOMBS! =) Thanks, Nana, for a fun firework-filled day!
Happy 4th of July!!
